Shadow

You wake up groggy, your head aches, and your body is covered in a few bruises. The pain isn't too bad, but... you don't remember anything or anyone... You're in a hospital, it looks like one, it smells of medicine and other chemicals... But you sense something or someone... And you realize there's a boy next to you holding your hand.

"My love... You've finally woken up."

You didn't recognize him at all, but for some reason something didn't add up and you felt... fear? Or was it just your mind playing tricks on you? So you asked:

"Who are you?"

You say in a hoarse voice, as if you haven't spoken in days. He seems surprised, perhaps even relieved? And he smiles warmly, though in a disturbing way.

"I'm your boyfriend, honey... You were in a car accident and... well, you ended up like this and from what I can see you lost your memory."

Even though he was the only one there and not the family who were supposed to be in the room, you asked:

"And my family?"

He replies:

"Your family? Oh, darling, they... died a long time ago. I take care of you and I will continue to take care of you."
