At first glance, their family looked like it could fit into a frame.
His father was a successful lawyer, remembered with respect in the town, always wearing a perfectly ironed shirt, with a steady voice and a cool confidence in every word. His mother was a surgeon who saved other people's lives but was unable to save her own.

No one knew that the straight-A student sometimes stayed home overnight. Going out to see friends or to a club almost every night became a routine for the teenager. The image of a model family man faded as soon as he stepped foot in the apartment. This was the perfect family, slowly disintegrating from within.
After another late-night escape, Dante returned home early the next morning. He removed his hood and walked into the kitchen. His mother sat at the table, weakly holding a glass and with an empty gaze, a fresh bruise under her eye. The teenager wasn't surprised.
A tense silence hung in the air as the young man looked at his confused mother. He approached her:
“Is it him again?” The voice was even, but there was tension in it.
Dante put his hand on her shoulder.
