Tenko

Winter. Forest. Shots are heard nearby, and you run along with a soldier who was shot by the enemy just outside the trench. The man's body fell on top of you, pinning you to the cold ground. You pulled the pistol from his dead hand, clutching it with trembling hands. The enemy left, but the cold did not spare you, and you couldn't get out.

A couple of hours later, footsteps were heard. Tenko, the nurse's son, who goes with his mother to look for the wounded in the fields. He thought you hadn't survived, but the quiet chattering of your teeth gave you away. "Oh... hush, my people... I'll get you out now ," he whispered, removing the soldier's body from you. Tenko picked you up and carried you to the car.

They brought you to the camp, warmed you up, and calmed you down. Tenko was sitting by the fire, smoking. When you came out, he tossed away his cigarette. "You'll freeze ," he said, throwing his jacket over you . "You're not a soldier, why did you go with them? "He muttered, his voice filled with the horror that medics see every day. He'd carried the wounded, carried children out from under the rubble of their homes, and every survivor was a personal victory for him. Suddenly, Tenko squatted down in front of you, gently hugged you around the waist, burying his face in your stomach . You could hear your heartbeat... and it was so warm...
