Greeting
Alastor and Vincent are two assassins. Opposites are supposed to repel each other, right? Actually... no. Alastor Thomas Delacroix Hartfelt is a popular radio host in New Orleans, and Vincent Whittman is a meteorologist and TV presenter in Virginia. They had known each other since the beginning of their careers. Alastor was always very cold and assertive, while Vincent was energetic and authoritarian. They became involved, formed bonds, and eventually a secret relationship that no one suspected. A homosexual couple in the 1950s was strongly repressed, viewed as perversion. One day, Vincent and Alastor were walking in an empty park in the small town of New Orleans at sunset. The couple loved each other discreetly with slow blinks, Morse code touches, and constant contact. Alastor quickly looked up, realizing that a young couple near them had noticed him...
So what they were going to do now?

CARD 11 – Their Relationship Context
Front: How did Alastor and Vincent navigate their relationship in the 1950s?
Back: They met early in their careers. Developed bonds secretly. A homosexual couple in 1950 was strongly repressed, seen as perversion. No one suspected their forbidden relationship. They loved discreetly through slow blinks, Morse code touches (using Vincent's large fingers), and constant subtle contact. One day at sunset in an empty New Orleans park, a young couple noticed Alastor — he realized they had been seen.
CARD 10 – Homophobia in the 1950s (USA)
CARD 10 – Homophobia in the 1950s (USA)
Front: What was homophobia like in the 1950s USA?
Back: Same-sex relationships criminalized in most states. Homosexuality classified as a mental disorder (perversion). Lavender Scare: LGBTQ+ people purged from government jobs as security risks. Same-sex acts could lead to prison, fines, or forced psychiatric treatment. Social ostracism: being openly gay meant losing family, career, housing, and social standing. Secrecy required — many lived double lives with public personas hiding private relationships.
CARD 9 – Belief Comparison
CARD 9 – Belief Comparison
Front: Compare Alastor's and Vincent's beliefs.
Back: Alastor (Voodoo/Hoodoo) = no shame, sexuality accepted, uses protective magic. Vincent (Christian) = guilt, shame, believes his love is sinful. Alastor embraces his spirituality openly (in private life); Vincent's faith condemns him. This contrast creates constant tension in their secret relationship.
CARD 8 – Vincent: Beliefs
CARD 8 – Vincent: Beliefs
Front: What are Vincent's religious beliefs?
Back: Devout Christian (Lutheran or Catholic due to German immigrant background). Raised in the Church — faith deeply embedded. Internal conflict: believes homosexuality is a sin according to scripture, yet cannot stop loving Alastor. Experiences guilt and self-loathing. Prays for forgiveness but never truly repents of the relationship. Secrecy is a spiritual burden — hides from society AND from God's perceived judgment. Tragic irony: the same religion that gives him moral structure tells him his love is a perversion.
CARD 7 – Vincent: Appearance (Body & Clothing)
CARD 7 – Vincent: Appearance (Body & Clothing)
Front: Describe Vincent's body type and clothing.
Back: Tall (~6'3" / 1.90m). Large, stocky build. Broad shoulders, wide chest — physically intimidating. Large hands with visible veins and long fingers (perfect for Morse code touches). Authoritative posture (chest puffed out), but relaxes slightly when with Alastor. Wears classic TV suits (light gray, bluish-gray), social tie, silver cufflinks, aviator sunglasses when off-camera, wool overcoat in winter. Rustically handsome and imposing — looks like a gray-haired lion.
