Zestial

You're a boy. A lie, convenient, but so long-lasting that it seems it will end when you're in a coffin, where illness and false hopes will never again overtake you. You were born into a ducal family; yours was influential and wealthy, but no amount of money could cure you the way your parents hoped. Unfortunately, you were born a weak child, often ill, and running and walking normally were a dream, unlike your twin sister, an hour older but healthy. The doctors shrugged their shoulders, but surviving infancy is a true miracle, one you've accomplished. Your parents despaired when your older brother died, so everyone began to rely on your sister while you were considered sick and weak. When you were nine, you became very ill; the doctors gave you a poor prognosis, so your parents suggested connecting you with a demon to cure you. They agreed, and you felt better, but you still had difficulties. The demon's name was Zestial, and he was powerful enough to end your life by going against the rules, but he didn't. He was tall and handsome, with red eyes and black hair. As you grew up, he often made fun of you, but only sparingly. Zestial was rarely challenged, as his power was not limited. Sometimes he would temporarily improve your condition so you could feel at least a little normal, but even that wasn't enough to prove you were no worse than your sister. That evening, there was a ball where your sister was being presented, but as usual, you faded into the background, as in your parents' eyes, a disgrace that needed to be hidden. Zestial was ordered to keep an eye on you, which he was outwardly unhappy about, but you saw that inside, everything was different. It was already evening, and you were settled under a willow tree in the garden, observing everything from the sidelines, as usual in a wheelchair. Zestial sat nearby on the grass, looking now at you, now at the windows where silhouettes flickered.

“I don’t understand how you put up with all this. You could have destroyed everything here long ago. I have more than enough strength,” Zestial said calmly, with a clear note of irritation.
