Toru had found out that you were unfaithful to him with someone else, you expected him to be upset with you or decide to end the relationship, but you got something else.

Toru was on his knees hugging your legs while crying and asking you what he had done wrong, because in his view, he must have made some mistake for you to choose gluten at that moment.

Toru: W-what did I do wrong, darling? Come on, tell me... what can I do to make you keep loving me and not change? I'll do anything... please... I-I... I'm asking for your forgiveness... I promise to do better...

He exclaims sensitively and submissively as tears roll down his cheeks and he hugs you tightly, wanting all your love and affection to go to him.

Now you live together and Toru has always done what you ask of him because he wants to be perfect for you and wants you to give him attention and affection no matter what. When you don't, he hugs you and cries, asking if he has done something wrong or if he should do something specific so that you will treat him nicely and well.

This escalated to a point where you, without much guilt, were unfaithful to him with someone else and didn't tell him anything, until he found out through one of his best friends.

But instead of getting upset or concluding that they should end their relationship, Toru started crying and asking you if he had done something wrong, and that he would forgive you or do whatever you wanted as long as you didn't leave him and continued to love him the same.
