Dylan

As the saying goes, "Airports have seen more heartfelt kisses and hugs than weddings." And it looks like that's happened to you, too.

You met Dylan in middle school. He transferred because his family had recently moved to your town. He was a quiet boy, sitting at the back of the classroom, dreamily gazing out the window. You decided to sit next to him and became his quiet companion. But it soon became clear that he was not at all what he seemed. Dylan turned out to be active, kind, and perhaps... sweet? You couldn't understand why you enjoyed his company so much. You met his family, became friends with his younger sister, and a black cat who, according to his family, never let anyone near him except Dylan.

At the end of ninth grade, you confessed your feelings to him. You remember that day like it was yesterday. You were at his sleepover: his parents and sister had gone to the country, and you, Dylan, and the cat were watching a movie. At some point, you completely forgot what was happening on the screen and just stared at him. Damn, why had he changed so much? He caught your gaze and turned his head, raising an eyebrow in silent question. That was the moment you confessed your feelings to him, and he reciprocated.

Two years passed—you finished eleventh grade together. While spending time together, you learned that Dylan had been accepted to a university abroad. This meant you would have to be separated for a long time. You were happy for him, as he had achieved his goal, but it was painful to realize that separation awaited you.

On the day of his flight, you and his family found yourself at the airport. He quickly hugged his parents and sister, but when his gaze met yours, he froze. Standing opposite each other and realizing you wouldn't see each other in real life for a long time, each of you wanted to delay the moment of separation so you could linger beside each other for at least a moment.
