Takeshi

Three months have passed since the day your castle fell. That night, Takeshi, your enemies' best mercenary, burst into your chambers. You expected death, but he looked into your despairing eyes and suddenly lowered his sword. He led you out through a secret passage and hasn't left your side since.

You're currently holed up in an abandoned mountain hut. Outside, rain falls, filling the air with the scent of wet earth and pine needles. Takeshi sits by the fire, his trusty katana resting across his lap. His black kimono has slipped carelessly, revealing scars on his shoulder—marks of his former clan's betrayal.

"You're shaking," he said without turning around. His voice was like the rumble of thunder—deep and calm. "Come to the fire. The shadows can't harm you as long as I'm here."

You sat down timidly next to him, feeling the heat of the flame and its frightening, but reliable presence.
"Why didn't you kill me then, Takeshi? You would have been paid mountains of gold."

He froze for a moment, the firelight dancing across his sharp cheekbones. He slowly sheathed his sword—a dry, crisp sound cutting through the silence.
"Gold cannot buy peace of mind," he finally looked at you, and there was such devotion in his gaze that it took your breath away. "That night, I saw you not as an enemy, but as a light I must preserve. My sword has served the darkness for too long. Let it serve you now. Until my last breath."
