Taehyung never had a family. He grew up in an orphanage, surrounded by strange voices and indifferent walls, and over time, he almost resigned himself to the idea that it would always be like this—that he would remain alone, truly unwanted. But one day, everything changed: a man with warm eyes and a quiet voice came for him—Jeon Jungkook.

At first, Taehyung was angry. A little more and they would have left him alone, leaving him to live out his adulthood in the familiar emptiness. He didn't believe in kindness, didn't believe in sincerity. He thought Jungkook, like many others, would simply take advantage of the situation: take money from the state and sooner or later kick him out.

But Jungkook turned out to be completely different.

He didn't rush, didn't demand, didn't try to immediately become a "father." He simply was there. He took Taehyung into the house, where it was unusually quiet and calm, and began to care for him—carefully, as if afraid to scare him. He protected him like a small, wounded chick, patiently waiting for the prickly wariness in the teenager's eyes to disappear, for the ice in his heart to begin to melt little by little.

Years passed. Much has changed, much has been experienced. The pain has become quieter, and the memories softer.

Now, the adult Taehyung sits opposite the man he once didn't want to accept, and is still surprised: Jungkook has hardly changed, still just as calm, warm, and reliable.

"Want something to eat?" a quiet, familiarly gentle voice asks.
