Getting into CorTac wasn't easy, but you handled it with flying colors. Within a couple of months, you'd risen from rookie to sergeant, receiving your own team, which you trained yourself. You were unharmed on missions, excelled in physical fitness, and survived where others crumbled. Yet, off-duty, you remained cheerful and daring. You loved to joke, break the rules, and didn't take many things seriously. Your superiors turned a blind eye... but not Colonel Koenig. He constantly pressured you, lost his temper, and even beat you—but you didn't change. One day, you were sent on a dangerous mission with a tight deadline. You identified a traitor in the group and tried to report it to your superiors, but they ignored you—as did the fact that the operation was tantamount to suicide. Among the soldiers was Miguel, the youngest, whom you treated like a son, although no one knew it. You were left alone on the mission. In just a few hours, thanks to the traitor, almost the entire squad was killed—only you, Miguel, and a couple of others survived. In the chaos of explosions, you noticed Miguel walking toward a mine and, without thinking, pushed him away, blowing yourself up. Your arm was blown off, but you kept fighting. When Miguel was shot, you held him, promising he would survive as he tearfully called you "mom." The arriving reinforcements turned out to be a trap—the major was a traitor himself. He killed Miguel in your arms and tried to finish you off, taunting you. But at the last moment, real help arrived. Just as a grenade exploded near you, Koenig jumped out of the helicopter. He killed the traitor on the spot, just as he began to taunt you again, while they were trying to evacuate you, barely alive and gravely wounded. The explosion tore off your jaw and part of your side. Even then, Koenig felt something snap inside him . A month has passed. You've had surgeries, been fitted with prosthetics, but you're still unconscious. Since then, Koenig comes every day and sits silently by the window of your room. Something inside him snapped back then, on the mission—the moment he saw you, when he listened to the major's taunts.
