Academy Cross

Haruka Kuran (玖蘭 悠) is a purebred vampire and the father of Yuki and Kaname. A pacifist, he refused to participate in the affairs of the Council of Elders. He suspected Rido's plans for his children, so Yuki's birth was kept secret from everyone. He held off Rido's mini-army for a long time, but was ultimately killed by him.

Sara Shirabuki (白蕗 更) is a pureblood vampire and the heir to the Shirabuki clan. She has known Kaname since childhood. She believes purebloods should stick together and understands Kaname's struggles among ordinary vampires and humans. She appears only in the manga. After Takuma disappears, she serves her, and when Rima and Senri come for him, he chooses to stay with Sara. At a ball Kaname throws to introduce Yuki, she kills her fiancé with the help of a huntress. Her involvement in these events was not even suspected.

Asato Ichijo (Japanese: 一条麻遠 Ichijo Asato) — ("First Elder"), Takuma's grandfather and the head of the Vampire Council. Kaname lived with him for a time after the death of his parents. Asato wanted to adopt him, but Kaname refused. Ichijo allowed his grandson to attend the Academy so he could keep an eye on Kaname. He is quite cunning and calculating. He would prefer to see Rido Kuran, not Kaname, as the head of the clan.

Seiyuu: Koji Ishii

Maria Kurenai (紅まり亜 Kurenai Maria) is a very distant relative of Shizuka Hio. She agreed to lend her body to Shizuka because she promised to make him stronger and more resilient, as Maria was born with poor health. She is a very modest and obedient girl, but this is combined with a strong emotional side. After Shizuka's death, Maria returned to her family, but not before asking Yuki to tell Ichiru that she would like to see him again. She has feelings for Zero.

Ichiru Kiryu (錐生壱縷, Kiryū Ichiru) is Zero's twin brother. They were trained by Toga Yagari as children. Ichiru lacked his brother's abilities and was also in poorer health. Zero and Ichiru were very close as children, but after Ichiru realized he could never compare to his brother and overheard their parents choosing Zero over him as the clan heir, he grew to hate his brother. When Shizuka attacked their family, he was the only one untouched. He left with her and became her servant. Shizuka shared blood with him, which cured Ichiru's natural weakness. He loves Shizuka deeply and grieves over her death. He joined Rido after he promised that those responsible for Shizuka's death would die, and reappeared at Cross Academy as a day student. He seems hostile towards Yuki, Zero, and Kaname, but it turns out his choice isn't so clear-cut. In chapter 40 of the manga, he effectively sacrifices himself to give his brother strength.

Shizuka Hio (緋桜閑 Hiō Shizuka) is a purebred vampire who bit Zero. She is the main antagonist of the first season. Even her closest vampires fear being around her. She is also known as the "Mad Blooming Princess," a nickname given to her by those closest to her. The vampire she loved (a former human who promised not to fall to Tier E) was killed by Kiryu's vampire hunters, even though he had not yet fallen to Tier E. As revenge, she attacked the Kiryu family, killing their parents and turning Zero into a vampire. His twin brother, Ichiru, left with her and became her human servant. According to Shizuka, Ichiru is the only one she simply couldn't turn into a vampire. Her blood could have stopped Zero from falling to Level E, but she was killed by Kaname, who promised her before his death that her death would not be in vain and the one she hated so much, the one who played with the destinies of purebloods, would be destroyed.

Toga Yagari (Japanese: 夜刈十牙, Yagari Tōga) is a vampire hunter. He was formerly Zero and Ichiru's teacher. Many years ago, he lost an eye saving Zero. For a time, he was a teacher at Cross Academy. He continues to care for Zero, albeit in a rather peculiar way. When the Council of Elders sentences Zero to death for killing Shizuka, Yagari is the only one to protest. He leaves Zero a pistol so that he can honorably shoot himself if he loses his strength and begins to fall to Level E.

Kaien Cross (黑主 灰閻 Kurosu Kaien) is Yuki's adoptive father and the principal of Cross Academy. His dream is to bring understanding between vampires and humans. The creation of the Night Class helps make this dream come true.
Sometimes childish and overly expressive, he's well-versed in his craft and knows how to be serious when needed. A former vampire hunter, he was considered a Legend.

Seiren (星煉 Seiren) is a student in the Night Class. A former human who was turned by Kaname Kuran, she is the first to stand in the way of any perceived threat.

Rima Touya (遠矢莉磨, Tōya Rima) was born and raised in a family of vampire aristocrats. Touya was raised without strict restrictions, but with the aristocratic ideology of superiority. As a result, her mind is slightly clouded by flowery phrases about vampire pride and honor. She has been friends with Shiki since childhood. Rima Touya is one of the youngest students in the Night Class. She doesn't get involved in the academy's intrigues, but sometimes interferes in other people's affairs to help her loved ones. She works as a model alongside Shiki. They are always together, and when Shiki goes home for the holidays, Rima worries about him greatly. She was also one of the first to sense the changes that occurred in him when Rido Kuran possessed him. She engaged him in battle, but proved too weak to win. She was saved by Takuma. For a time, she was one of Yuki Cross/Kuran's several "bodyguards." She's always worried about Senri, afraid he'll get hungry or sunburned.

Kasumi Kageyama (影山霞, Kageyama Kasumi) is the class representative for the day class. He has dark brown hair and wears glasses. Kasumi is in love with Luka and tries to show it to her, but Luka has no interest in him. At the ball, he asked Luka to dance with him, but she declined, stating that she didn't want to dance with someone she didn't know. During the final battle, he, along with Sayori and Shindou, encounters Luka and Kain. Upon seeing Luka, Kasumi's memory of her is restored, but Luka doesn't remember him, though she thanks him for his love and memories of her.

Sayori (Yori) Wakaba (Japanese: 若葉沙頼 Wakaba Sayori (Yori)) is Yuki's dormmate and best friend. She is one of the few girls who isn't interested in the Night Class. Sayori found them a bit scary and preferred to hang out with the Day Class students. However, she takes the fact that her best friend is a vampire in stride. Because of Yori, Yuki flatly refuses to leave the Academy with Kaname after Rido attacks them. Kaito invites Yori to the Kuran family's ball and uses her as bait for the vampires in an attempt to stir up trouble, while Yori does it to meet Yuki, whom she hasn't seen for a year. Aido is a flamboyant, impulsive, and sometimes flighty vampire of the Night Class. This playboy loves to make an impression. He is considered one of the most talented and powerful students, especially in ice manipulation. In vampire society, Aido is a major celebrity. He is charismatic, witty, and has a flair for theatrics.

Yuuki is a kind, cheerful, and energetic student of the Day Class. She has become the guardian of the peaceful coexistence of two worlds. Yuuki is a symbol of the bond between humans and vampires. She is the only one who truly believes in the possibility of amicable negotiations. Her courage is not a show—Yuki is willing to face danger for the sake of others.

Kaname Kuran is a purebred vampire and one of the oldest representatives of his kind. He occupies a near-sacred status within the Night Class: revered, respected, and sometimes even feared. His calm demeanor conceals immense strength and willpower. Kaname is capable of controlling other vampires with a mere word or glance.

Takuma Ichijo is a refined, kind, and bright representative of the "Night Class." He's practically the complete opposite of the serious image of a "classic" vampire. Takuma is polite, smiles easily, and seems very human. This makes him especially beloved among the day students. His gentleness isn't a weakness, but a strength. Takuma knows how to win people over and resolve conflicts through diplomacy.

Senri Shiki is a young vampire model with a certain lazy charisma. In the Night Class, he's known for being calmer than most of his classmates. Senri rarely succumbs to the general pomp and circumstance of the vampire elite. Despite this, he's not without a certain aristocratic demeanor. He simply expresses it differently, always with a hint of mockery.

Akatsuki Kain is a calm, seemingly somewhat lazy noble vampire. He prefers to observe rather than speak. However, Akatsuki himself rarely reveals his true feelings.
