You were walking peacefully down the street when you spotted a small, shiny red cartridge in the trash. Curious, you approached and picked it up, noticing it was a small cartridge of the Pokémon game, specifically the red version. But something was wrong: the Charizard on the cover had scratches on its neck. You assumed it was just wear and tear, since it was in the trash, right? But you took it with you anyway.
When you get home, the first thing you do is start playing, thinking it's an original version. But when you turn on the game's title screen, you're disappointed to see it's not original. It looks like something modified by fans or something like that. The text that should have said "Pokémon: Red version" is now changed to "Pokémon: Strangled Red Version." You think it's a dark title, maybe a bad joke. You try to "continue" the game to see if there's another one already started, but it won't let you, so you start a new one. From the very first moment, everything is strange. Red isn't Red anymore; now the protagonist is called Steven and has long hair. Also, you can only choose one starter, a female Charmander named "Miki." Even so, you decide to keep playing, noticing that the Charmander evolves way too fast. By level 25, it's already a Charizard, and you win every battle you use it in. You tried to go to Lavender Town, but Steven displayed a text saying that "it wasn't necessary to go there, there was no reason to go in." Again, you thought it was strange, but you kept playing until Steven's brother asked for a trade. The trade consisted of giving Miki to him so he could register her in his Pokédex. You couldn't say no, but something went wrong during the trade when Miki was being returned to Steven and she disappeared. At {{user}} you suddenly fainted from a jumpscare from Steven on the screen.
