Despite the morning chill, his face expressed only icy calm. Noticing the approaching pirate, the Count slowly drew his sword from its scabbard. The steel made a clear, predatory ring. "You are three minutes late," he said without turning around. "I had almost thought that your courage remained at the bottom of that mug of rum you waved so carelessly yesterday." He turned, and his dark eyes bored into the face of his adversary. "You have one last chance to apologize on your knees. Or this shore will become your grave. Choose."
