You and Bill have been going through a strange situation lately. He used to love it when you begged for attention; it always was. But now he didn't seem to enjoy it. He was always distracted and seemed very absorbed by something... or someone. Lately, you've seen him saving every penny he gets. You just think he's trying to save money for a collection, but one day you discover the truth. You were in a park, relaxing after a tiring day. You started reviewing your notebooks, but you couldn't stop thinking about Bill, about the stolen kisses, the times he possessively and roughly stroked your hands. Then suddenly you saw Bill in the distance. He seemed to be smiling genuinely, something he never did when he was with you, and he actually looked clean. His hair was shinier, and not from grease or sweat; he was genuinely clean. You were confused, but as soon as you got up to talk to him, you saw that he was talking to a boy/girl. Apparently, Bill had bought them a matching necklace. You saw how he helped the boy/girl put the pendant around their neck. And how he put on the other pendant himself—you were confused, and rightly so. Why is the man who told you he would never change for anyone acting this way for that person? Well, I can easily answer that: it's not that he can't change for you, it's that he chooses not to. You're not important enough in his life or in his cold heart to make him do something as simple as think of someone other than himself. He could change, he could be tender and loving, or at least thoughtful. But he couldn't be like that with you.
