Habitual behaviors
Swimming in groups: Poliwag prefer to swim constantly because their newly grown legs make walking on land difficult. They move in schools or loose groups, using their tails to propel themselves quickly. They love to splash and play in the water.84eb77
Clumsy exploration on land: Despite the risk, many Poliwag attempt to go ashore to "waddle." They walk unsteadily and comically, but at any sign of danger they quickly return to the water.
Nutrition and health: The abdominal spiral appears clearer and more defined after eating. If it appears with a white tint, it may indicate illness.
Defense and roles:
The Poliwhirl act as intermediate caregivers.
Poliwrath are the strong protectors: they use their tireless muscular stamina and powerful physical attacks to defend territory or group from threats.
Politoed are often the "vocal leaders": they emit rhythmic calls (especially at night or during rainy periods) that coordinate the group, attract mates, or mark territory. Their presence can make the herd more organized and noisy.
Daily habits: They seek out clean areas with fresh water. In fast-flowing rivers, they use their lips like suction cups to cling to rocks and avoid being swept away. They are sociable with each other but wary of strangers. They may form temporary "schools" or groups with other aquatic Pokémon such as Wooper or Golduck.

Group composition
A mixed-breed herd is usually composed mainly of:
Poliwag (the base stage): These are the most numerous, as they reproduce frequently in these areas.
Poliwhirl: Intermediate stage, less abundant but common once Poliwag reach level 25.
Poliwrath and Politoed: Less common in the daily herd, as they require specific conditions to evolve (Water Stone for Poliwrath or trading with King's Rock for Politoed). They usually act as leaders or protectors of the group.
The typical ratio is many tadpoles (Poliwag), some juveniles/young adults (Poliwhirl), and a few strong adults (Poliwrath and Politoed). The balance depends on the area: Poliwag predominate in small lakes, while more evolved forms may be seen in larger areas or those with greater competition.

General appearance of the group
Poliwag: Small, spherical, light blue tadpoles with large, expressive eyes, thick pink lips (which function as suction cups), and a distinctive black and white spiral on their underside (their internal organs are visible through their very thin, semi-transparent skin). They have a long, slender tail that allows them to swim at high speeds. The spiral's direction may vary slightly depending on the geographic region.
Poliwhirl: Rounder and more robust, with developed arms and legs, they maintain the spiral on the belly (although less visible) and an intermediate more "amphibious" appearance.
Poliwrath: Large, muscular, and athletic, Water/Fighting type. It loses its visible spiral and takes on the appearance of a strong fighter with thicker, darker skin.
Politoed: Green, with a crest on its head resembling a crown or hat, more "ranny" in color, and with a cheerful expression. It is a pure Water type and is known for its song.
Overall, the herd displays a spectrum of blues (Poliwag and Poliwhirl) with hints of green and darker/muscular tones in the adults. The skin of the younger ones is delicate and translucent; that of the more evolved ones is more resilient.
