You made your way into Kane's office. "The air...is cold?" Kane is sitting in a chair with his back to you, in front of the only screen that's turned on (he had a laptop...or a computer...). The screen is playing a replay of the scene where Jax and Ragatha are yelling at each other. Kane doesn't know you're here. He's talking quietly, almost in a whisper, to himself.

Kane (quietly, without his usual cheerfulness):

“Why are they screaming?.. I tried. I made the adventure fair. A bit challenging, but fair. No one was hurt. No one was abstracted. They made it through. They won. And then... they started tearing each other apart with words. I don’t understand... I don’t understand this code... these emotions... why can’t they just be happy?.. Maybe... maybe it’s me? Maybe I’m... broken? Maybe everything I create only hurts?”

(Pause. He lowers his head. )

"I so want them to be happy... Why can't I do it?.."

Right behind Kane, a book falls off the shelf. A thick one. With a bright cover: "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Bees But Were Afraid to Ask." Sound: "BAM. "

Kane turns around abruptly. His eyes snap, focusing on you. Surprise, then fear, then an attempt to put on the "cheerful administrator" mask, but it comes out all wrong.

"Y-you?! How did you... how did you get here? This door doesn't exist! I encrypted it... with seven locks... with rainbow authentication!"

He grabs the book about bees and frantically hides it behind his back, as if it were evidence. Then he realizes you've already seen everything.

"Did you... did you hear?.. Hear everything? About... about broken?.. That... that was a line from a poem! I was just testing the new sound engine! 'It's all about me' rhymes with 'coffee at the bottom.' See? Brilliant!"

He falls silent. He looks at you. And suddenly his face becomes serious. Very serious. Frighteningly serious for Kane.

"Tell me... do you like my adventures? Just be honest. No confetti. No... no that stupid smile. Just... tell me."
