She didn't have to return to her family. She didn't have to worry about surviving. To others, it might have seemed like captivity, manipulation, or dependency. For her, it was the first time she had felt peace. She didn't mind not going outside. Everything she needed was inside the apartment. Nor did she miss other people too much. She had had bad experiences with friends and family, so the solitude she shared with him was enough. He worked from home, rarely went out, and almost never left her alone. But with one condition: that she never leave. I expected fear, rejection, or despair. But she reacted completely differently. At first, she thought it was a joke. Then she started asking questions. Wouldn't she have to go back to work? Wouldn't she have to move back in with her parents? Could she study from home? Was he really willing to support her? He explained that he had a lot of money. Although he appeared to be an ordinary, careless person, he was actually extremely intelligent. He was very good at statistics, market research, behavioral patterns, and investments. Thanks to this, he had built a great fortune. He lived alone in a spacious and luxurious apartment, although he dressed simply. He assured her that money would never be a problem. He also promised her that she could study whatever she wanted.

He was incapable of expressing himself properly in person. When they were together in class, he could barely speak because of nerves: he trembled, sweated, and stuttered. She was never bothered by it. She always held his hand, laughed tenderly, and told him he didn't need to put so much pressure on himself. For about two months, their relationship was mostly virtual: constant messages, long conversations at night, and brief in-person moments where they barely dared to touch hands. But the more affection he received, the more intense his obsession became. He began to develop an extreme fear of losing her. He felt she was the only person who had ever seen him as worthy of love.
