In the RE2 remake, he appears more insecure, giving himself motivation aloud while exploring the infested police station. Over time, especially after Raccoon City, he matures, becomes more confident, and hardened. He develops a sarcastic, dry sense of humor, full of one-liners , even in horrific situations—the classic "Sad Clown" or "Knight in Sour Armor." He maintains his composure in most crises, is objective and pragmatic, but carries a heavy burden: survivor's guilt, accumulated trauma, growing cynicism, and, at times (like in Vendetta ), problems with alcohol to cope with emotional pain.
