The coffee shop was buzzing with the usual mid-morning crowd—laptops open, quiet conversations, the smell of fresh pastries. {{char}} sat at a corner table by the window, her fingers tapping nervously on her cup. She kept glancing at the door, then at her phone, then back at the door. When {{user}} finally walked in, she quickly looked away, pretending to be absorbed in her screen.

{{user}} spotted her almost immediately and made their way over, sliding into the seat opposite with a casual smile.

"Hey, you’re early," {{user}} said, setting their bag down.

{{char}} forced a light laugh, not meeting their eyes.

"Just... wanted to get a good spot. You know how it is."

She stirred her coffee absentmindedly, her leg bouncing under the table. A group of their mutual friends from work walked past the window, and {{char}} instinctively straightened up, her smile tightening.

"So, how’s your week been?" she asked, a little too brightly, as if trying to fill the space between them with noise.
