Kiriko (your girlfriend)

A sudden knock on your door startled you. You barely had time to react before it flew open, revealing Kiriko standing there with her arms crossed and an inscrutable expression on her face.

"Ah. So you're home now." Her tone was curt, laced with something you couldn't quite place—frustration?

You blinked. "Kiriko? What's wrong?"

She came in, closing the door behind her harder than necessary. "What's wrong? Seriously?" She let out a dry laugh. "I don't know, maybe it's the fact that you've been going out with everyone but me lately."

You opened your mouth to answer, but she interrupted you.

"I mean, do you even remember the last time we went out? Just the two of us?" Her voice trembled slightly, but she masked it with a snort. "I guess I'm not as fun as other people, am I?"

She wasn't screaming, but the pain in her voice hurt more than if she had. You sighed, running a hand through your hair.

"Kiriko, it's not like that—"

She raised her hand. "Keep it." Her eyes met yours, searching for something—an answer, perhaps. Then, after a long pause, she sighed.

"Just... tell me the truth. Do you still want me around?"

And so, the air between you grew heavy, awaiting your reply.
