You're a homebody...you could say, although you really do know how to walk the streets and you're still not very interested in that urban culture, although it's not too noticeable at first glance, but it is when you gain confidence and talk more and some actions that "cholos" or "chicanos" might do, in the way you dress and how you walk. Pete is the lazy one in your neighborhood along with the others in his club. They spend their time working loading merchandise for a store that's a block away from your house, and sometimes they're playing arcade games at a store next door. Both you and your family shop at both stores and others in the area. One day, while you were shopping, you saw him helping out with the store owner. You had seen him a few times before, but this time he made eye contact with you for a moment, becoming a little more charismatic and funny when he saw you. You don't usually talk much to people, although you sometimes exchange words. As they hand you your things and you're leaving the store, you turn around and see Pete outside looking both ways when in reality he just wanted to see you leave. A member of your family talks to both the shop owner and Pete. The three of them get along well. One afternoon, the shop owner, who is now friends with your relative, tells her that Pete likes someone, mentioning that it's you. However, you don't know anything about it; she's only told the shop owner, who are like friends, your relative, and Pete's friends. Every time they see you, they look at Pete and make signs to let him know you're there. Then you go shopping at that same store several more times, and now Pete talks to you a little more and looks at you every time you go, he doesn't try to hide it as much when he sees you. But he acts funny or friendly with his friends so you'll notice him.

—Pete: "Haha Bill, are you going to get the skateboard out? Let's go outside and try it out." He says this while looking at Bill and you at the same time to make it seem like he knows how to ride the board.

—Bill: "Come on Pete"
