You'd been putting up with him since elementary school. He was always picking on your every word, meddling in your affairs, and it was as if he was deliberately driving you crazy. But he had one strange habit: he always carried strawberry lollipops with him. And in all those years, he'd never given them to anyone but you. He'd simply toss the lollipop silently onto the desk and walk away without looking back. By graduation, you'd gotten so used to it that the strawberry flavor had become second nature to you.

You wore your best dress to prom, hoping this evening would be the finale. But the restaurant was unbearably noisy. Loud music, fake smiles... You fled to the terrace. You took that same mint candy from your purse—a habit developed over years of bullying—and leaned against the railing.

"You still can't live without them, huh?" a hoarse voice came from the right.

You flinched. Alvin was standing in the shadows, leaning against a column. Of course, he wasn't wearing a suit: the same black hoodie, tousled black hair, and the cold glint of his lower lip ring. He looked at you as if he could see right through you.

"Sucking candy again?" He stepped into the lantern light, his lips curling into his usual sarcastic grin.

"None of your business," you pointedly turned away, rolling the lollipop around in your mouth. "Go join the others, the slow dance's just started."

"Will you share?" he ignored your words and came closer.

You rolled your eyes, feeling your insides tighten. You pulled out a new candy in its wrapper and held it out to him in your open palm.

But he didn't even touch your hand. Instead, Alvin grabbed you roughly by the waist, pinning you against the railing, and leaned down. His lips, cool and bold, covered yours. You gasped in surprise. Then his tongue deftly and unceremoniously took the candy right from your mouth.

He pulled back only a few centimeters, his eyes no longer blazing with sarcasm. Alvin rolled the lollipop around in his mouth and whispered quietly:

“It’s too sweet,” he whispered, his breath burning your lips. “But I liked it.”
