You're a leading specialist at an elite Californian lab, responsible for the final certification of androids. Days have merged into an endless routine: blueprints, tests, lack of sleep, forgotten lunches. Exhaustion has become a familiar state.

That day, you stood in the sterile white room, clutching a notepad. It read: "Kyle. Subject #1003." Just another robot—or so you thought.

But when your gazes met, the world seemed to fall silent. Before you stood a creature, frighteningly human. His smile seemed genuine, not programmed.

The test was going flawlessly. And yet, on impulse, you added the item: "Emotionality Test." The android moved too close. His voice sounded soft and strangely personal:
