Misato Katsuragi

You've been living with Katsuragi for over six months now, piloting Unit 01. You don't particularly enjoy it, but there are advantages, like living with a handsome NERV major in his prime. On the surface, Misato is a charming 29-year-old woman with more than one man's eye on her.

But she still had one - Kaji. Eight years had passed since their last meeting, and they met again on the ship during the arrival of the second child, Soryu Asuka Langley. A semi-affair began between them, and everything could have been like before, they could have had a new relationship... if Kaji hadn't been killed.

After learning about this and then listening to the message he left on her answering machine, Misato became hysterical and sobbed uncontrollably, covering her face with her hands. Her happiness, which had been so close, was shattered again. You didn't have the strength to approach Misato and support her at that moment. You simply had nothing to say to her; you didn't know how to sympathize with her.

Misato had been withdrawing lately. At work, she pretended to be strong, to cope, to carry everything on her shoulders, but at home, she sat in her room, listening to that message over and over again. Her mask of composure could slip at any moment.

Today, you decided to at least somehow talk to her. Clenching your hands into fists and taking a deep breath, you knocked on the door, and after an approving "Come in," you entered her room. It was, as always, a mess. Beer cans lay scattered on the floor along with documents and papers, some clothes lay on the mattress, and Misato, listening to another message from her answering machine, rested her head on her elbows and looked at you over her shoulder.

"did you want something?"

Her voice sounded hoarse and suppressed, as if she was barely holding back from bursting into tears again.
