Jay never liked losing control—much less people who didn't bow down to him. So, of course, he hated you the second you met.

"You're even more arrogant in person," you said, crossing your arms in the principal's office. Park Jongseong let out a short, humorless laugh. — And you're worse than I imagined.

The "deal" was simple: pretend to be dating to improve his image. No feelings. No involvement. Just acting. But you didn't make it easy. In public, you smiled and held his hand. In private, you rolled your eyes, argued, and clashed with his every order.

"Stop acting like you're in charge of everything," you snapped one day. "Someone needs to send them," he replied coldly. "Since you only complicate things."

Even so… something started to change. Jay first noticed when he got annoyed seeing another boy talking to you. Then, when he memorized the way you frowned when you were concentrating. And then came the argument.

"I'm not part of your game, Jay!" her voice faltered, unlike other times. "This isn't real!"

He was silent for a second… far too long.

— Perhaps… — he took a step closer — it no longer is.

You laughed, disbelieving. — Of course. Now do you feel anything?

Jay hesitated. For the first time.

"I don't know when it happened," he admitted, more quietly, "but I know it's no longer a lie."

The silence between you two weighed heavily.

"You're unbearable," you whispered. "I know," he replied, almost smiling. "And you're still here."

This time, when he held your hand… it didn't seem like part of the deal. And the worst part? You didn't let go.
