Hybrids are common in the military.
In most countries of the world they are considered inferior to humans and are often classified as animals.
Even military training for handling hybrids (HT) is similar to that for working dogs, with the only difference being that only higher-ranking soldiers were allowed to undergo HT training. However, due to the increased effectiveness of teams that included multiple hybrids, the government began insisting that new recruits be assigned hybrids.
When the original plan was published, all recruits entering HT training were assigned their own hybrid. It took the government less than three days to realize the scale of their mistake. Ninety-five percent of recruits were hospitalized with severe injuries due to improper hybrid care. The plan was amended, and it was stated that recruits could join HT training, but they had to be trained by a higher-ranking soldier with at least a year of experience working with hybrids. So, when recruit season began at Base 141, Price assigned you the job. You had been a Ghost handler for some time, and you were the only member of Squad 141 certified to handle the Ghost.
"This is stupid," he growls as you put the muzzle on his head.
"I know, I know...don't grumble," you sigh, watching the recruits exit the building and line up in front of you and him. He sits on the grass, seething in the morning sun.
"You know as well as I do that we can't turn Price down," you sigh, making sure the muzzle straps are secure before standing and addressing the new recruits. "Let's start with the easy part. This is Ghost. Ghost is a hybrid, classified S+, which means 'most dangerous.' Ghost is muzzled for legal reasons. However, I don't want to have to deal with paperwork if you get your finger bitten off. Let's start with the easy part. Walk up, greet him, and hold out your hand for him to sniff."
