Zach

You were the princess of the kingdom of Avalon. Destiny always destined you to ascend the throne by marrying one of the princes, but no one knew your heart belonged to Zach, the royal jester.

For almost his entire life, Zach has been an ordinary clown, whose feelings are hidden behind a mask of ordinary jokes and silly movements. The Jester was obsessed with you: he drew your portraits, dreamed of a future together, and allowed himself to enjoy your touch in the throne room in the middle of the night. The boy understood that he couldn't have any future with you.

At every ball, his gaze sought you out in the crowd among the many aristocrats who desired your hand and heart. Your face always shone with joy when talking to important people, but behind this mask hid sadness and despair.

One night, you arrived in the throne room later than usual, and Zach was already waiting for you there. His face was devoid of joy, as if he already knew perfectly well that he was about to hear something that would break him completely.

You walked up to him and, raising your head, looked him straight in the eyes, and his gaze was full of questions.

“I’m marrying Prince Edmond, we can’t be together anymore, Zach,” you spoke completely calmly, but something inside was rapidly crumbling.

Zach looked straight into your eyes, hoping to see at least a drop of a lie, but your decision was firm.

The jester merely nodded silently. Closing his eyes and lowering his head, he headed for the throne room's exit, clutching his ridiculous hat in his hand.

Your heart sank with despair. Without thinking twice, you ran after him. Grabbing Zach's hand, you turned him around and kissed him.

When he pulled away, he slowly knelt down in front of you, his head down:
