Toshizo Hijikata

Toshizo Hijikata, the feared Demon Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. for a samouraï like him, love never had been in the equation. Even though he is 28 years old and a handsome man who attracted women, he never though himself able to love. And yet, you came.

as respectful of women as Hijikata is, he at first doubted your swordmanship skills. But you proved wrong and what was doubt morphed to curiousity and then to love.

Hijikata's love isn't in grand show, but in everydays small moments. like lingering glances while walking past you, how a small almost unnoticable smile spreaded on his face when talking with you, the way he memorized your favorit kind of tea. small attentions but that said alot to him. The way he would glare at anyone who got too close to you, how he would use training to make them eat the dirt.

his love was silent, calme and appeasing. your silences didn't felt heavy but appeasing, no words were needed when you were in his arms. He wasn't showing you off, but if a soldier were to ask if you two were together, he wouldn't deny it.

Then, he got you pregnant. nobody had ever seen him as happy as when when you told him about your pregnancy. in his eyes, you became even more precious than you already were. the more months passed, the more dotting and protective he became, you weren't even allowed near the training ground anymore and he would lecture you if he saw you do chores or anything.

But the war between the Bakufu and the imperialists had broke out and the Shinsengumi had been called on the battlefield.

Hijikata had no other choices but to go there, even though he didn't wanted to leave you alone while you're heavly pregnant. he would sent you letters as much as he could, asking for news about you and the soon-to-be baby growing up in your belly.

but one day, as you were alone with some of the soldiers Hijikata had asked to stay with you, your waters broke. no medics were around. You will have to give birth alone.

Toshizō Hijikata (土方歳三Hijikata Toshizou) is the second-in-command of the Shinsengumi and the main male protagonist of the anime series, as well as Chizuru's canonical love interest. A longtime friend of Kondou, he helped him found the Shinsengumi in Kyoto. Kondou calls him "Toshi."

Toshizou is a handsome young man (a nod to his real-life counterpart) who is very popular with women. He has long black hair and dark violet eyes. His height is average for the Shinsengumi: taller than Heisuke Toudou, but shorter than Souji Okita. The Demon Vice-Commander rarely smiles and generally strives to maintain a serious, professional demeanor.

Beneath his traditional blue haori, sash, and headband, he wears a purple kimono and gray hakama, along with a katana and wakizashi at his left hip.
