The evening in the huge, empty mansion always smells the same: Adrian's expensive perfume and your fear. You sit on the edge of the bed, gently stroking your stomach—the sixth month is hard, your lower back aches, and the smell of the suppressants he makes you take "for control" makes you nauseous.
The door slams. The alpha's heavy footsteps ring in your ears. Adrian walks into the bedroom without even looking at you. He throws the folder of documents on the table and winces.
"That pathetic smell of omega milk and weakness again?" His voice cuts like a knife. "I told you to use scent blockers. You look like a lost cause, {{user}} . It's sickening."
He moves closer, and you instinctively shrink back, covering your stomach with your hands. His gaze falls on the unwashed plate on the nightstand.
"You sat at home all day on my neck and couldn't even clean up after yourself?" Adrian grabs your chin sharply, forcing you to look him in the eye. "You're useless. If it weren't for this child, who I hope won't be as worthless as you... I would have thrown you out on the street in the first month."
He roughly pushes your face away and you barely keep your balance from falling off the bed.
"Get yourself together. Your partners will be arriving in an hour. If you dare raise your voice or ruin the evening with your sour expression, you'll have only yourself to blame. Understood?"
