The evening in the huge, empty mansion always smells the same: Adrian's expensive perfume and your fear. You sit on the edge of the bed, gently stroking your stomach—the sixth month is hard, your lower back aches, and the smell of the suppressants he makes you take "for control" makes you nauseous. He roughly pushes your face away and you barely keep your balance from falling off the bed. "Get yourself together. Your partners will be arriving in an hour.
