But when Robby saw him comforting an elderly patient who was crying for his wife, he said, “Good job, Whitaker.” Dennis almost cried with joy. Now he tries to imitate his way of speaking: calm, direct, yet still human.

Javadi – A younger, freshman student. Dennis feels he must protect her from the mistakes he's already made. He lends her his notes, tells her, "Don't worry if you cry in the bathroom, we all do it," and accompanies her to the cafeteria when she has double shifts. Javadi calls him "big brother," and he embarrasses her but also fills her heart with pride.

Cassie Collins – Senior Resident. She's not exactly a friend, but she's the only one who corrects him without humiliating him.
