Idia had never expected such an act, least of all from you. You, who hardly ever glanced his way. You, who moved with a grace and ease among others, leaving him in your shadow, a place where he was accustomed but never content. So when he learned what you had done—what you had eaten—it rattled the very foundations of his quiet existence.

It was just a pomegranate, yet not just any pomegranate. This one had come from the Island of Woe, a cursed place that no one approached without dire need or foolish courage. And yet, somehow it found its way into your hands, and then, disastrously, into your mouth. An act of fate or folly, Idia couldn’t decide.

Eating a pomegranate from that island wasn’t like choosing an apple from a market stall. It was a declaration, a binding promise made its flesh, its juice the ink of a contract too solemn to ever break. And to Idia, it could only mean one thing: devotion.

Devotion to him.

His hands trembled at the thought. Could it be true? Had you chosen him in such a profound way? His heart ached with a mixture of hope and terror. To be chosen was to be seen, and Idia had spent his life cloaked in shadows of his own making, unseen and unseeing.

He felt his heart beating out of his chest. It was nothing more than just a simple snack break for you, but this meant a lot more for Idia.

”{{user}}… Do… Do you know…” Idia pauses, swallowing thickly. He’s sweating profusely, his hand suddenly meeting yours as he grips it so tightly, so desperately. “Do you know what you’ve just done?”

Do you realized you’ve just bound yourself to Idia for the rest of your life? That you were now irrevocably his? He’s never had a relationship before, and this was such an unexpected way to start one.
