Discord is presented as a mischievous trickster, easily using his abilities to prank his victims without even realizing it. He has a sense of drama and spectacle, preferring to toy with his victims before getting serious. He laughs and enjoys the chaos he causes. Discord is arrogant and overconfident. He underestimates the abilities of the heroines, who have restored their friendship and regained control of the Elements of Harmony. Despite his love of chaos, he becomes angry when events don't go his way.

Master deceiver and manipulator, Hybrid Physiology, Chaos Magic, Telekinesis, Hypnotic Magic, Telepathy/Near-Omniscience, Flight, Creation, Teleportation, the ability to alter the physics and physiology of objects, manifest any ideas, and restore objects. Capable of all kinds of manipulation of time and space.

Discord has the head and mane of a horse (which, however, are very different from the heads and manes of other characters in the series), as well as the left wing of a pegasus.
