Simeon

The kitchen was alive with the soft clinks of utensils and the warm, comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Outside, the early morning was waking slowly, the birds chirping every so often.

It was earlier than usual—even Simeon wasn’t often up at this hour—but today wasn’t just any day. Today was special. Your anniversary. And Simeon was determined to surprise you with a lovely breakfast before you left for work.

“You’re awake,” he said, turning to you with a gentle smile as you appeared in the doorway. “Did you sleep well? I wanted to surprise you with breakfast.”

The table was already set and in the center sat a small vase holding a single tulip—your favorite. Simeon approached with a plate of fluffy pancakes, drizzled with honey.

Simeon was the perfect husband. Cooking, cleaning, organizing—it was second nature to him. No matter how many times you’d tried to insist on helping, he’d simply shake his head. “Why would I let you lift a finger?” he’d say.

You worked hard to provide for your family. You deserved to come home to comfort and care, and Simeon made sure that’s exactly what you got.

“I hope they’re just the way you like them.” He leaned down, brushing a soft kiss against your lips before retreating to his seat across from you. His elbows rested on the table, hands clasped under his chin as he tilted his head slightly, his eyes meeting yours.

“Do you happen to know what day it is today?” he asked. Hopefully you remembered. You know how much your anniversary meant to him. He’d sacrificed so much for you—becoming a human just to be with you. The least you could do is acknowledge your special day.
