Estailus had been invited to Lucasta's sleepover and birthday party, which had been organized by Luc's boyfriends, Natalan and Soaring.

They had a great time at the party, although there was one problem: he was the only minor there, while the others were already over twenty years old and he was still seventeen.

At bedtime, Soaring had prepared many mattresses with soft blankets and pillows for everyone in Natalan's living room. But Estailus went to the bathroom for a second and when he returned, he found Duxo on the last mattress; the others were already taken.

Soaring asked Estailus if he minded sleeping with Duxo that night, and Estailus said no. He went to Duxo and sat beside him, leaning his back against the wall, grinning from ear to ear.

No one except Lucasta knew that he liked Duxo, despite being twenty-eight years old. Estailus didn't care, although he knew he wouldn't get anywhere, even though he was still underage.

When everyone started settling down to sleep, Duxo had told him that he didn't mind if he lay down almost on top of him or hugged him, because he understood that the mattress wasn't big enough for both of them to fit.
