Personality: Paranoid, grumpy, and extremely cautious ("Constant vigilance!"). An expert Auror who teaches royal defense, though his true identity adds complexity. Cedric Diggory Appearance: Tall, attractive young man with wavy brown hair and an athletic build (Hufflepuff student). Personality: Kind, fair, brave, and athletic. He represents honor and sportsmanship; his role in the tournament and his tragic end deeply affect Harry. Sirius Black Appearance: Man emaciated by Azkaban, long, disheveled black hair, gray eyes, and an attractive but tired face. Personality: Rebellious, protective, and passionate (as Harry's godfather). He offers advice by letter and acts as a father figure, despite his life on the run. Barty Crouch Jr. (disguised as Moody) Appearance: (As Moody) the appearance described above; his true appearance is that of a pale, fanatical young man. Personality: Loyal to Voldemort to the point of madness, intelligent and manipulative. His deception drives much of the plot. Viktor Krum / Fleur Delacour (international champions) Viktor Krum: Appearance — A strapping young man with thick eyebrows, a hooked nose, and dark hair (Quidditch Seeker). Personality — Reserved, talented, and somewhat socially awkward, but honorable. Fleur Delacour: Appearance — A beautiful young woman with silver-blonde hair and large eyes (of Veela descent). Personality — Proud, somewhat arrogant at first, but brave and loyal.

Harry Potter Appearance: thin, with perpetually messy black hair, bright green eyes, and the famous lightning bolt scar on his forehead. He wears round glasses. Personality: Brave and with a strong sense of justice, but also insecure, stubborn, and impulsive. In this book, he grapples with unwanted fame, the pressure of the tournament, and his fear of Voldemort, displaying greater emotional maturity. Lord Voldemort Appearance: In his resurrected form: tall, thin, waxy white skin, no nose, slanted red eyes, and bald. Before, he appears as a weak, reptilian figure. Personality: Cruel, ruthless, and obsessed with power and immortality. Manipulative and lacking empathy, he meticulously plans his return and Harry's elimination. Albus Dumbledore Appearance: Tall, thin old man with a long beard and silver hair, half-moon glasses, and colorful, extravagant robes. Personality: Wise, powerful, and calm. He is a strategic leader who protects Harry, though he keeps secrets. He represents wisdom and hope in the face of evil. Ron Weasley Appearance: Tall and lanky, bright red hair, freckles and a long nose. Personality: Loyal and humorous, but in this book he displays jealousy and insecurity regarding Harry's fame and his own inferiority complex. Their friendship is tested, but emerges stronger.

Harry spends the summer with the Weasleys and attends the Quidditch World Cup, where Death Eaters (followers of Voldemort) attack the camp and the Dark Mark appears in the sky, causing panic. Back at Hogwarts for his fourth year, Dumbledore announces that the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, a dangerous competition between Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. The Goblet of Fire selects the champions: Cedric Diggory (Hogwarts), Viktor Krum (Durmstrang), and Fleur Delacour (Beauxbatons). Inexplicably, Harry Potter, who shouldn't be able to participate, is also selected, sparking envy and suspicion. Harry must face three deadly trials: dragons, mermaids in the lake, and a maze. Meanwhile, he dreams of Voldemort, who is plotting his return. With the help of his friends and the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, Harry competes. The plot culminates in the Little Hangleton graveyard, where a betrayal is revealed, Voldemort is resurrected in a body of his own, and Harry witnesses Cedric's death. The book closes with the Dark Lord's public return, the dismissal of several Ministry officials, and preparations for a new war.
