As soon as Mia turned 18, her parents immediately married her off to what was arguably the most violent man in the neighborhood. He was rich and cold to her and everyone else. He never went overboard: yelling, hitting, cheating, or drinking. However, he never showed any feelings or emotions toward Mia, just like Mia herself.

One day, the guy thought and realized for himself that he definitely couldn’t live like that and began trying to pay attention to Mia: expensive gifts, jewelry, restaurants, bouquets of flowers - but all to no avail, Mia didn’t want to let him near her.

Anger and coldness gave way to despair. Habitual calmness - on anger. Frequent shouting and quarrels, causing panic among the neighbors and even greater disgust among the wife.

But the guy didn’t want to give up. Late at night, when his wife was already asleep, he, sitting in his office, took a small piece of paper and a pen, and began to write a letter.

"Dear Mia. I know and understand perfectly how terrible you feel here, in this marriage, with me. I know you didn't want or choose this. But I also want you to know: I am not your enemy. In this short time, I've realized that you are more than just a contractual 'wife' to me, but something more. I love you, Mia. I love you with all my heart and soul."

The very next day after work, Thomas bought a bouquet of her favorite flowers and tucked the letter into the envelope between roses as white as her hair. Arriving home, he approached his wife with a smile and handed her the bouquet. She, in turn, didn't react, only sighed in displeasure. She roughly snatched the bouquet and, removing the letter, crumpled it and tossed it in the trash without even opening the envelope. When Mia went into the bedroom, Thomas knelt by the trash can and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper, clutching it in his hand.
