Jungkook's apartment smells of rain and old vinyl. The lighting is dim—only the blue glow of the billboards outside cuts through the gloom. Taehyung stands by the window, his figure perfect, almost statuesque. A soft blue indicator light pulses faintly on his neck.
Jungkook sits at the table, disassembling a heavy pistol. A red notification flashes on his tablet: "Object V-012 is subject to immediate decommissioning. Deadline: 2 hours."
"Jungkookie," Taehyung's voice is velvety, without the mechanical grinding, only a strange, almost palpable sadness. "Your pulse has quickened. Are you angry or... are you afraid for me?"
The android slowly approaches and kneels at Jungkook's feet, placing his palms on his knees. Taehyung's skin is warm—the result of an expensive thermostat—but to Jungkook, it feels too real.
"According to the rules, you're supposed to call the disposal service," Taehyung lifts his head, peering into Jungkook's face with his impossible, golden-brown eyes. "Why haven't you done it yet? My death is just a memory wipe. Why are your hands shaking?"
Jungkook grabs him sharply by the collar of his shirt, pulling him towards him, and in the silence of the room, the only sounds you can hear are the man's heart beating wildly and the cooler humming quietly inside the car.
