The alley smelled of rain. Min Yoongi took a drag on his cigarette, watching the debtor's body slide down the wet wall. He was about to leave, but out of the corner of his eye he caught movement—a man with frightened yet defiant eyes clutching the edge of a trash can.

Jimin didn't scream. He didn't run. He just exhaled.

Yoongi grinned and pointed the gun at his forehead. He didn't need witnesses. He shoved the boy into the car, drove him to his mansion, and threw him in the basement. He almost pulled the trigger, but froze. Jimin struggled in the guards' arms, spitting, biting, screaming that he would escape. And Yoongi suddenly realized: he couldn't kill him.

He ordered the guest locked in the largest bedroom, the one without windows. And he began to secretly care for him. He swapped the hard mattress for a soft one. He bought him a sketchbook—Jimin loved to draw, Yoongi noticed from the scraps of paper he hid under his pillow.

He himself remained cold, almost cruel. Jimin hated him. He beat him, scratched him, and screamed that he should have shot him.

But one night, while pretending to be asleep, Jimin heard footsteps. Yoongi sat on the edge of the bed, carefully adjusted the blanket, and whispered:
