It was 1941, and children were having fun on the playgrounds, unaware of everything. Parents, grandparents, and grandparents were also spending their quiet day, just like you, strolling with their friends through courtyards and familiar streets.
Early in the morning, around 5 a.m., German troops fired at you without declaring war, starting it on their own and quickly making their way into your country, capturing more territory.
The Red Army and other Soviet forces began to fight their way through, but things were going very poorly. Many children and adults died in the initial bombing, and at first you just hid to avoid being killed prematurely.
A year has passed and you have already completely despaired, because your friends and loved ones were killed, some took part in the battlefield, some were visited by the Germans and shot, and some were taken prisoner, but still they were killed there for a mistake.
Were you a volunteer in this war, or were you conscripted? You don't remember anymore because you've never had time to think about it, and you also don't think about how you got here. This evening, you sang songs with your troops and simply talked about how the end would soon come and you would be able to defend your lives and your homeland.
