Trivia
Keigo’s name combines kanji for “disclose” ($啓$, kei) and “enlightenment” ($悟$, go); his surname includes “hawk” ($鷹$, taka) and “see” ($見$, mi).
Hawks was inspired by Takahiro from Oumagadoki Zoo (a previous work by Kohei Horikoshi), but got a new design. Takahiro later appeared in My Hero Academia: Two Heroes.
Hawks likes chicken, which aligns with his raptor‑like alias. Initially, his manga design had silver/white colours; the anime used yellow/gold, and manga colours were later updated (Volume 27) to match.
His appearance resembles X‑Men’s Angel/Archangel; his backstory (bastard son of a criminal and a bystander) echoes Golden Eagle (Teen Titans).
Hawks skipped high‑school heroics and was scouted for private education as a child — he’s the first Pro Hero confirmed not to attend U.A. High, and the highest‑ranking hero with that background.
His backstory draws from Lionel Messi’s childhood; his piercings were inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo. He holds records for youngest Pro Hero and fastest rise to top 10 on the Hero Billboard Chart JP. He ranks 2nd in overall and popularity rankings.
Per the Ultra Analysis fanbook, Hawks is “sharp‑eyed, sharp‑eared”. Horikoshi created him as a double agent; his design evolved during development.
Keigo grows facial hair to look mature and hides his baby face. He keeps an Endeavor plush from his mother.
Popularity Polls: 4th (4th poll), 11th (5th), 7th (6th & Global), 5th (7th & 9th), 8th (8th).
Voice actors: Zeno Robinson (main, also voices Deidoro Sakaki); Emi Lo (child, also voices Lala Soul).
Appearance
Keigo is a slim, average‑height young man with ash‑blond feathery hair swept back, some tufts sticking up. He has square piercings in both ears (often hidden by headphones), thick eyebrows, faint stubble, and golden‑brown triangular eyes with small black triangles near the tear ducts, resembling a bird’s. His Quirk, Fierce Wings, gives him large bright‑red feathered wings, usually reaching over his head when folded.
His hero costume is aviator‑style: a black shirt with a golden wavy pattern, a tan shearling‑lined jacket with a high collar and shoulder slits for wings, white‑fur‑lined sleeves, black gloves, and a yellow‑tinted visor (blue in the manga). Red square piercings adorn his ears, though they’re usually covered by yellow headphones.
After the Paranormal Liberation War, injuries from Dabi’s Blueflame left his wings weakened. During recovery, he wore a respirator and used a text‑to‑voice app, later regaining speech and seeing his wings start to grow back. Upon returning to duty, he had shorter hair, a jagged scar on the left side of his face (cheek to neck), and severe back scars (up to the upper neck). He wore a new visor and a black undershirt with two golden buttons.
By the Final War, he used wing prosthetics to regain speed (Recovery Girl’s Heal Quirk couldn’t fully restore his wings) and wielded katanas instead of burnt feather blades. After All For One stole his Quirk, he lost his wings completely. Later, Himiko Toga’s Doubles attacked him, leaving a giant knife mark on his right chest and face.
Post‑Final War, Keigo has a jagged forehead scar, wears a black suit with a white shirt, and carries a katana. Eight years later, he wears an orange suit jacket with a blue pinstripe dress shirt.
Personality
Hawks is highly intelligent and alert, though he acts carefree and jovial — sometimes seeming rude. He follows the Hero Public Safety Commission’s (HPSC) orders with cynicism, dislikes formalities, and uses sarcasm — for instance, when agreeing with Bakugo’s claim of being faster.
He believes popular approval is key for a Pro Hero: heroes should put citizens at ease. He prefers lower ranks for more freedom but is ferocious in his duties. Around people he likes, he’s talkative and can help many civilians at once. He stays relaxed under pressure, has expressive gestures, and is a skilled liar — though he adores truth and finds lying too much work.
Hawks infiltrated the Paranormal Liberation Front and the League of Villains (chosen by Madam President). He outsmarts surveillance and plans ahead — e.g., for the Hood incident. He deduced that stolen Quirks weren’t destroyed (culprit: Nine) and understood the truth about One For All and All For One, theorizing All For One can’t steal it due to lack of hatred.
Despite seeming uninterested, he has a good heart: he saved witnesses from Hood’s attack and feels guilty about Endeavor’s scar. He trained to maximize wing techniques and encouraged trainee Fumikage Tokoyami to hone his Dark Shadow Quirk.
In childhood, his father (Takami) abused him and his mother (Tomie) was broken. Keigo thought heroes were fictional until his father’s arrest by Endeavor. He saved people in a car crash using his Quirk, gaining HPSC attention and escaping poverty.
After harsh HPSC training as a double agent, he kept his optimism. He still admires Endeavor and exposed his past to defend him. He seeks good in others — e.g., bonded with Twice undercover, wanting to help him rehabilitate.
Post‑Final War, Keigo becomes HPSC President after losing his Quirk. He pardons Lady Nagant, supports retired Endeavor, proposes hero ranking reforms, and eight years later helps fund Ochaco Uraraka’s Quirk Counselling projects — realizing his vision of collectiv
Abilities
Hawks was ranked 3rd among Japan’s Pro Heroes, later rising to No. 2 after All Might’s retirement. At 18, he entered the top 10 and reached No. 3 within four years — the youngest and fastest to achieve such a high rank.
His Quirk, Fierce Wings, enables flight, high‑speed combat, and ally support via detached feathers. As a child, he saved multiple people from a 130 km/h car accident. Hawks avoids exhausting his quills unless necessary; he uses feathers as bladed weapons to compensate for his Quirk’s lack of brute strength. His speed lets him subdue criminals rapidly — often leaving subordinates to clean up.
He evacuated 76 citizens from a collapsing skyscraper during Hood’s attack, then aided Endeavor against the High‑End Nomu. His speed let him keep pace with Hood, who outpaced Endeavor. Later, he apprehended two villains so fast that Izuku and Katsuki couldn’t follow his movements.
In the Final War, despite crippled wings, Hawks fought alongside Endeavor against All For One, nearly landing a killing blow with Fumikage’s help. After All For One stole his Quirk, Hawks lost his speed.
Hawks is highly intelligent and observant. He deduced All For One hid more Nomus outside Kamino and correctly identified a life‑support pod as Nine’s containment. He gathered sensitive HPSC intel and tricked the Paranormal Liberation Front’s surveillance.
Despite his carefree attitude, Hawks has strong willpower. After losing his Quirk, his Quirk Factor rallied other Vestiges against All For One, causing the villain to lose control during the final battle with Dynamight.
Former Quirk
Fierce Wings ($剛ごう翼よく$ Gōyoku): Hawks’ Quirk gives him large red wings for flight and telekinetic control over each feather. He can harden feathers into blades, shoot them as projectiles, control their speed/trajectory, and carry objects (single feather = medium‑sized object; multiple = larger loads). He senses air vibrations via feathers (like echolocation) to detect people’s locations.
Weaknesses:
- Wings shrink as feathers shed, impairing flight.
- Full regrowth takes ≥2 days.
- Limited feather quantity (enough to evacuate victims, not hold up buildings).
- Vulnerable to fire (burns feathers, hampers mobility).
After the Paranormal Liberation War, injuries from Dabi forced Hawks to use prosthetics (limiting speed). During the Final War, All For One stole his Quirk, leaving him Quirkless.
Abilities:
- Feather Blades: Plucks primary feathers as swords (sharp enough to slice through two white Nomu). Post‑injury, he uses a katana instead.
- Enhanced Sight: Extremely sharp vision (spotted Endeavor among hundreds from a skyscraper).
- Enhanced Speed: Extraordinary speed (reaches targets in an eye blink; allies can’t keep up).
- Vocal Espionage: Uses feathers to sense sound vibrations, decode conversations, and spy even at a distance.
Ultimate Moves
Soundwave Vibration-Enhanced Flight Feather Blade (音おん波ぱ振しん動どう付ふ与よ風切太刀カゼキリノタチ Onpa Shindō Fuyo Kazekirinotachi?): Taking advantage of Kyoka Jiro's Legato, Hawks flies around and hits his opponent with a blade. First used against All For One, it had enough power to break his reinforced life support helmet.
Equipment
Katanas: Hawks possesses three katanas, which were replacements for his since-burnt feather blades. He uses them to attack in a similar way to his feather blades. The first of them was destroyed when he attacked All For One's protective helmet, and the second was destroyed when it rebounded off of All For One's Hardflame Fan.
