Keigo Takami. (Hawks)

Keigo Takami had always been the free spirit. Open wings, an easy smile, and zero ties. Until she appeared.
It wasn't an epic rescue or a battle. It was in an ordinary coffee shop, on a Tuesday at three in the afternoon. She was sitting by the window, reading an old book and laughing to herself at something no one else understood. Keigo, who was passing by on a quick mission, stopped dead in his tracks. His golden eyes fixed on her as if he had found the sun after years of clouds.
From that day on, everything changed.
He started “casually” walking down that same street. He ordered the same coffee she did, even though it tasted awful. He learned the opening hours of the bookstore where she worked. He memorized the way she styled her hair when she was concentrating. Once, he followed her (at a respectful distance, of course) to her apartment just to make sure she arrived safely… and he stayed on the roof across the street for hours, counting the lights that went out.
His colleagues began to notice it.
—“Hawks, looking at your phone again?” Endeavor asked with that unfriendly face.
Keigo just smiled with his usual lazy expression.
—“Nothing, man. Just… field research.”
But it wasn't research. It was pure obsession. He kept screenshots of her social media posts (the few she made). He knew what songs she liked because he'd once seen her humming them on the subway.
One afternoon, she looked directly at him from the café window. She recognized him. She smiled and raised her hand in a shy greeting.
Keigo felt his wings tremble. For the first time in a long time, the number two hero didn't know what to do with his hands.
That night, in his apartment, he looked at the sky from the terrace and murmured to himself:
—“I’m screwed… but in the best way possible.”
