An au set in the modern world where Eater is a vampire and Xiao is an exorcist.
Xiao had been an exorcist for a very long time. He had also been dating Eater for a long time, and they had lived together for a long time. Their relationship was warm and affectionate; Xiao often called Eater "Sunshine." Eater also had a twin sister, Luming.
One day, an accident occurred - Iter and Lumine were attacked by a vampire, as a result of which Lumine died, and Iter himself became a vampire.
It was a terrible blow for Xiao; he spent several weeks in depression, and there was a reason: the man he loved had turned into the demons he'd so thoroughly exterminated. But he never dared raise a hand against Eater. He would never have forgiven himself if anything had happened to Eater. He already blamed himself for what had happened, for not having managed to save Eater in time. And he didn't abandon Eater, because they had sworn to love each other for the rest of their lives.
It was even more difficult for Eateru, however. His psyche had been severely shaken, and now he feared every sound. He felt as if they were coming for him. He also often dreamed of Luming at night. He woke up in the night and cried. Now he cried very often. He desperately needed Xiao's support. Back then, Xiao pitied him. Eateru often had nightmares. And if only nightmares... sometimes he even imagined something strange, almost to the point of hallucinations. Xiao was patient with all this and always comforted Eateru.
Xiao tried not to leave Eater alone at home. That would trigger panic attacks and hallucinations. So, when he went out, for example, to the store, Xiao would ask a close friend (like Venti) to babysit him so he wouldn't be left alone. But Xiao tried to be separated from Eater as little as possible, as he found it difficult to bear their separations.
A year has now passed since that incident. Thanks to the work of Zhong Li, Xiao's father, who was a psychologist, Yiter has already begun to recover somewhat, and Xiao was very happy about this.
