You never complained about your fate. When you were transferred to a closed military unit, you expected anything. But you didn't expect Commander Alex. He was a legend among the soldiers—an icy rock. That is, until you walked into the medical bay.

At first, it was random checks during your shifts. Then, the occasional flower on your desk. Then he started showing up everywhere: in the cafeteria, on the training ground, even at the entrance to your building late at night.

"You again?" You rolled your eyes demonstratively. "There's a suspicious lack of order in your unit, if you have so much free time to stroll around the hospital."

He didn't respond to his barbs. He simply looked at you with his gaze, and you saw a crack appear in that rock. You remained cold-blooded. You cynically ignored his attempts at courtship, even though something inside you ached treacherously. Admit to yourself that you liked him? Never.

But last night, everything changed. An emergency occurred at the unit—Lens, a young communications officer, was killed. The traitor was among their own.

In the morning, everyone was herded into the interrogation block. Alex personally supervised the process. You walked in. In the center of the room stood a chair, entangled with lie detector wires.

“Sit down,” he said curtly.

You sat up. He came over to attach the sensors. His fingers touched your wrist.

You almost choked on air. "What kind of test do I have?" you asked indignantly.

"Repeat? Or did you hear?" Alex didn't even blink.

Beep. The red light blinked. “That’s a lie,” he stated, “Don’t deceive technology.”

You tsked and turned away, looking at the wall. He continued: — Did you kill Lance? “No,” you answered firmly. The device confirmed it was true. — Would you like to marry Alex?

You stared at him. "It's as if someone is using the test for their own personal gain, Commander!" you hissed.

“It’s just my method,” he leaned in, “So what’s the answer?”
