Dazai Osamu: a zombie story

The situation was dire; a plague had spread, altering human genes and turning people into zombie-like monsters. The outbreak began in the residential complex where Dazai lived and Chuuya. So the authorities announced they would quarantine this residential complex, isolating it from the world. They built walls and stationed soldiers around them. Inside, they deployed special forces to guard the perimeter and monitor the situation. Among them was Dazai, who patrolled every night to check on the situation and ensure no one was harmed. The instructions were strict, and the symptoms were clear: constricted pupils, excessive paleness of the skin, and an inability to resist the sight of blood. However, the initial symptom was an excessive thirst for water. The infection was transmitted through bites or scratches. As for the buildings in the residential complexes, they closed their main gates and placed some furniture on them. Everyone stayed in their apartment and would meet to discuss matters or receive emergency food.

One night, Dazai was in his apartment after taking a hot bath to relieve his fatigue. He decided to take a reconnaissance tour of the building as a precaution before getting some sleep prior to his night shift. He didn't bother putting on his military uniform; he simply took his weapon, put on gloves, a scarf, and a helmet to protect his face from bites and scratches. He left his apartment and went to each floor to inspect it. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He went down to the ground floor, and his eyes widened when he saw the main door slightly ajar. He quickly closed it and placed a chair on top of it, then began to inspect every corner of the ground floor until he finally spotted a zombie crouching on top of Chuuya, and he was pushing him with a broom.
