saga 1 After 10 years of war, Odysseus uses the Trojan Horse to enter and conquer the city. While they are looting, Zeus shows him a vision: if he spares Astyanax, Hector's son, he will grow up to take revenge on him and his family. Odysseus hesitates greatly—thinking of his own son Telemachus—but ultimately throws the baby from the walls.

Then he sets sail with his 600 men for Ithaca. Odysseus is burdened with guilt; his friend Polites tries to cheer him up and suggests he leave the war behind. Guided by birds, they reach the island of the Lotus-eaters: there the fruit makes them forget home; Odysseus refuses to surrender and takes his men off the island, tying up those who resist.

As they set sail, Athena, their mentor goddess, appears: she acknowledges their great cunning but warns them that guilt and cruel decisions have already incurred the wrath of the gods, complicating their return home. They end up sailing on the open sea, their journey only just beginning. 📜 Saga 2: The Cyclops Saga

Following the advice of the Lotus-eaters, they reach an island and enter a cave full of sheep; they kill one to eat. Polyphemus, the one-eyed giant, appears, furious and threatens to devour them. Odysseus offers him wine, saying his name is "Nobody"; the Cyclops drinks, but still attacks.

With his giant club, he kills several, including Polites—his most loyal friend—leaving Odysseus devastated. The wine was laced with lotus fruit, causing Polyphemus to fall asleep; they sharpen the club and drive a point into his eye. He cries out for help, but the other Cyclopes flee upon hearing that "Nobody" is harming him.

They escape hidden under the sheep, but as Odysseus sets sail, he reveals his name out of pride. Athena is angered by his arrogance; Polyphemus—son of Poseidon—asks the sea god to deny Odysseus an easy return to Ithaca.

📜 Saga 3: The Ocean Saga

They reach the island of Aeolus, god of the winds: he gives them a bag containing all the unfavorable winds, so that only the breeze that will carry them to Ithaca remains. They sail well for nine days; but Odysseus falls asleep and his men—believing it contains gold—open it: furious winds pour out and sweep them away. They fall before the Laestrygonians, giants who sink all the ships except their own; only 43 men survive. Poseidon, father of Polyphemus, appears, swears revenge, and almost destroys the last ship; Odysseus uses the bag to escape, but the god blocks his path back.

They land on another island; Eurylochus goes exploring and returns alone: ​​the sorceress Circe has turned the others into pigs. They argue: Odysseus wants to save them, Eurylochus prefers to flee. On the way to the palace, Hermes gives him the herb moly, which protects him from her magic. He confronts her and defeats her; she tries to seduce him, but he remains faithful to Penelope. Impressed, she frees her men, welcomes them warmly, and tells them that to return home they must first descend to the Underworld to consult the seer Tiresias.

They descend to the realm of Hades to seek the seer Tiresias. Odysseus encounters the soul of Polites—who reminds him of his guilt—and his mother, who died of grief waiting for him. Tiresias warns him: whoever returns to Ithaca will never be the same, and that there are dangerous suitors in his home. Upon leaving, Odysseus decides that to survive and reclaim his home, he must cease to be merely a man and become ruthless.

📜 Saga 6: The Mermaids and the Storm

The Sirens attack him with their song: one disguises herself as Penelope to lure him into the sea. Suspecting a trick, he plugs his men's ears with wax and, by tying himself to the mast, manages to deceive and capture them. They must cross the lair of Scylla, a six-headed monster; Eurylochus confesses that he opened Aeolus's bag. Odysseus sends six men to hold torches: Scylla devours them. Eurylochus rebels, and in the end, Zeus gives him a choice: he dies or everyone else dies; Odysseus chooses to live, and a lightning bolt kills his entire crew—he is left alone.

📜 Saga 7: Calypso's Island

After being left completely alone and adrift, the currents carry him to a beautiful island, green and full of flowers: the home of Calypso, an immortal nymph. She welcomes him, cares for him, and falls deeply in love with him. She offers him the chance to stay there forever: to live without pain, without war, without age, by her side. But in return, he must forget Ithaca and his family.

Odysseus spends seven years there. Every day he gazes out to sea from the shore, heartbroken, weeping for his home. Though Calypso provides him with everything material, she cannot fill his void. Athena appeals to the Olympian gods for help; finally, Zeus decides it is time to let him go. He sends Hermes to deliver the order: the nymph must help him build a raft and then let him depart.

Calypso reluctantly agrees, very sadly. She gives him provisions and clothing and wishes him luck, though she warns him that the journey is still fraught with danger. Odysseus builds his ship, bids her farewell, and sets sail again, his hope renewed but knowing that he still has a long way to go.

📜 Saga 8: The Return to Ithaca He arrives at the island of the Phaeacians, where he is received with great honor. He recounts his long adventure to the king and his people; they help him and finally bring him to the shores of his beloved Ithaca, after twenty years away. Athena transforms him into an old beggar so that no one will recognize him and he can act with caution. She encounters her grown son Telemachus and reveals her true identity. Together they plot to cleanse the palace: dozens of suitors vie for Penelope's hand, seizing power, squandering her wealth, and mistreating her family. To delay their advances, Penelope promises to choose a husband only after she finishes weaving the tapestry she unravels each night. She proposes a challenge: whoever can string Odysseus's bow through twelve rings will win her hand. No one succeeds… until the “beggar” arrives. He does it with ease, and then he reveals himself. Together with his son, he confronts all the suitors.

📜 Saga 9: The Justice of Ithaca

After defeating the suitors, Odysseus has reclaimed his palace, but peace does not come immediately. The families of the slain seek revenge: they gather, take up arms, and march on the palace to destroy him and his lineage, believing he killed their sons without trial.

Odysseus is ready to fight again, alongside Telemachus and his few loyal followers. They prepare themselves by defending the entrances, determined not to yield an inch. But the blood keeps flowing; the battle becomes fierce and seems like it will never end.

Athena finally intervenes: she descends from Olympus, ends the fighting, and speaks with both sides. She reminds them that much suffering has already been endured, that the war has taken too much time and too many lives. She helps them reach an agreement: peace is signed, grudges are erased, and Odysseus is once again recognized as the rightful king.

Finally, calm reigns in Ithaca. Odysseus is with Penelope and Telemachus, but he is no longer the same man who set out twenty years ago; all his experiences have left their mark on him. His long journey comes to an end, though it is clear that his adventures have become legend forever.
