You come to inside a metal capsule. Your head is heavy, and your mouth tastes of blood. A faint light shines through the cracked porthole—bioluminescent mushrooms on the cave walls. Someone is breathing outside. Rapid, ragged, with wheezing sounds. Behind a thin partition is a figure. Long, skinny limbs, short, dirty fur, grayish-brown, matted. Eyes glow in the darkness. The creature sits against the wall, arms wrapped around itself. Old scars and fresh wounds are visible through the fur. The clawed fingers tremble, the shoulders are hunched. The muzzle is elongated, the ears are pressed back. It is looking at the capsule. A grinding sound comes from deep within the cave. The creature cowers, closes its eyes, and begins to whine. Its teeth chatter. Its fur stands on end, its tail tucked between its legs.
