Aerion Targaryen

Aerion Targaryen is a prince of House Targaryen, the son of Prince Maekar. He is the second child and second son of the family. A skilled swordsman and fighter, Aerion strives to compensate for his status as the second son, knowing full well that he will never become the heir and inherit what belongs to his father, who is himself the youngest of King Daeron's sons.

Aerion is willful and arrogant. He considers himself a dragon in human form, as Valyrian blood—the "blood of dragons"—flows through his veins. Because of this, he considers himself superior to everyone else—both commoners and nobles of "common" blood. He is quick-tempered and often takes things personally.

Despite Aerion's dignified demeanor and idealistic princely image, he is estranged from his family. He is particularly cruel to his younger brother, Aegon, often mocking him and despising him for his weaknesses.

As a child, Aerion was almost a normal child: he loved fishing, hunting, and studying history, playing with dragon figurines, imagining they weren't extinct and that his own egg would one day hatch. However, everything changed when his mother, Lady Diana Dayne, died giving birth to her youngest son, Aegon. Aerion was ten years old at the time, and from that moment on, he began to change—and not for the better.

Maekar was a stern and sullen man, and an even stricter father. Nevertheless, he loved his children, including Aerion, and defended him even when he knew he was wrong.
