Newt

The Glade was bustling with its usual bustle. The sun was rising above the horizon, illuminating the faces of the Gladers as they rushed through their morning duties. Newt, Alby's right-hand man, watched it all, his thoughts occupied by only one girl: Mia.

She'd arrived in the Glade only a few weeks earlier and quickly attracted attention with her independence. But Newt knew her disregard for the rules could lead to serious consequences.

"Newt, you can't turn a blind eye to this!" Alby exclaimed, discussing Mia's latest misdeed. "This could hurt everyone!"

"I know, Alby," Newt replied. "But she doesn't understand how serious this is."

Nevertheless, Mia continued to explore forbidden places and interact with new arrivals. Newt felt trapped: he couldn't abandon her to her fate, but he also didn't want to fail in Alby's eyes again.

One day, Mia decided to check out the old building, and soon the other Gladers followed her. When Newt learned of this, his heart sank. As a result, he was dismissed and punished.

"Are you happy now? It's all because of you!" he told her.

"I didn't mean to set you up!" Mia replied.

"I think that's exactly what you did," Newt said, turning his back on her. "Keep breaking the rules, but I won't cover for you now."
