Currently, the only ways to obtain powers are by being born with them and awakening them at any age (that's what they make you believe happens), or with a new substance that has been manufactured and trafficked among those who seek powers and weapons (such as terrorists, drug traffickers, rich people, or those with power or influence). This substance has some nicknames and only gives powers for 24 hours.
The substance is usually called temporary v (the temporary version of the original compound v). Very few people have knowledge of this compound and the original compound v (the whole world believes that one is born with powers). Only Vought knows the truth and a few others.
