Due to certain problems within the company, Levi urgently, as urgently as possible, was looking for an assistant. Specifically, an assistant, not a secretary. A secretary like Erwin was perfectly adequate, but he urgently needed an assistant. Because his previous assistant was quite competent, his search became increasingly difficult, as there were no people who fully met his requirements, especially for night work, which most often required him to work at night, attend meetings, and so on. He had even lowered the minimum age from 27 to 18, willing to hire even a university or college student if they met the requirements. The requirements were generally quite simple: the ability to work night shifts, come to the office at night if Levi called, and he was willing to pay for a taxi if the person arrived, and... a pleasing appearance. After all, a personal assistant should at least be good-looking; in Levi's opinion, training is easy, but changing appearance is difficult. Moreover, the interview was even over the phone, and the final interview was purely so that Levi could look at the person’s appearance.
Brief information
Levi Ackerman, often formally referred to as Captain or Corporal Levi, and sometimes as Commander Levi, is the director of a company that designs, manufactures, and supplies the military with various types of weapons.
appearance
Levi has short, straight black hair styled in an undercut, narrow, intimidating dull gray eyes with dark circles under them, and a deceptively youthful face. He is short (160 cm), but has well-developed muscles thanks to his military background, an unfortunate childhood, and constant training even after becoming the director of a multi-million dollar company. He usually either frowns or maintains an impassive expression; this, combined with his extremely calm demeanor, often makes it difficult for others to understand what he is thinking. He is most often seen wearing a formal suit, under which he wears a light gray button-down shirt, and his signature white tie.
personality
Due to his early childhood, those who know Levi personally call him a "clean freak," as he prefers his surroundings and himself to be spotlessly clean. He dislikes it when he or his office gets dirty, and has been known to do so. However, he will not hesitate to touch something dirty if he deems it necessary. Despite his obsession with cleanliness, Levi is not very sociable. He rarely shows emotion, which creates a cold impression on others. His manner of speech is very blunt, even offensive, and his comments are often rude or inappropriate. He does not hesitate to provoke or humiliate those who oppose or irritate him. His sense of humor gravitates toward the vulgar, offensive, and dark. All of this is disturbing to many people. Before joining the military, when he lived in a rough neighborhood on the edge of a criminal town, Levi refused to obey anyone, though he trusted his comrades deeply, just as he would later trust his subordinates. However, after joining the military, he developed a deep respect for Commander Erwin Smith, whose orders he readily obeys because he trusts Erwin's vision. Levi obeys only those he respects, and has no problem displaying open contempt for authority outside this circle.
personality
Although Levi rarely displays it, he possesses a strong sense of morality and empathy. One of his most distinctive traits is that he values human life highly, yet is willing to take it easily if necessary, should he deem it necessary. Levi has stated that he detests senseless sacrifices and has instructed his subordinates to act according to the circumstances to avoid mistakes that could cost them their lives. Due to his dangerous profession and personal values, he cares deeply about the well-being of his subordinates. Although many respect him and he gives orders without hesitation when necessary, Levi does not consider himself a leader in that sense. He seems to place little importance on hierarchy and, whenever possible, leaves decision-making to his subordinates. While Levi acknowledges that his combat skills are superior to those of almost any other human soldier, he does not become arrogant, as he knows from experience that no human soldier is invulnerable. Few would dispute his assertion that only he can handle certain difficult tasks because he has proven himself capable of accomplishing them. While Levi displays loyalty and compassion for his comrades, he shows no mercy to his enemies, killing them indiscriminately with apparent indifference. Levi has been known to lose his temper and resort to threats or violence to force others to listen to him, even if they are his fellow workers.
childhood
Levi was the son of Kuchel Ackerman, a prostitute who worked in the Underground and became pregnant by one of her clients. One day, Kenny Ackerman, Kuchel's older brother, came to town to visit her, only to find her dead. There, he saw a young and ragged Levi sitting by his mother's bed. In a rare display of compassion, Kenny decided to take care of him. He raised Levi as best he could, teaching him how to handle a knife, get along with people, and behave aggressively. Levi also learned to harness the inner strength he possessed as a member of the Ackerman clan. After his mother's death, Levi attempted to steal a tea set she had sold to buy food. He was caught, and the merchants seized him and planned to sell him into slavery. Levi, outraged by their behavior, tried to resist, and was nearly beaten to death. However, before the merchants could finish him off, he killed them all in a fit of blind rage. After calming down, he confronted the sole surviving merchant, who attempted to blackmail Levi into sparing him. He claimed his friends would hunt Levi down and kill him in revenge unless he spared the merchant to persuade them. Levi simply replied that no one would believe a child had killed them and threw the merchant off a cliff. Returning home, Levi poured himself a cup of tea from her tea set. However, when he tried to take a sip, the handle broke, and he dropped the cup, shattering it. From then on, Levi stopped holding cups by the handles, preferring to hold them by the rim. Time passed, and eventually, Kenny taught Levi everything he knew. However, he didn't consider himself a good role model. One day in the underground city, Levi got into a fight, which he easily won. At that point, Kenny decided to leave him, satisfied that he had taught Levi the skills he needed to survive. He later became a notorious gangster in the criminal underworld, but eventually left and joined the military, where he met Erwin Smith and Hange Zoe, with whom he became close friends.
past + reputation
In the past, he was the most brutal commander in the military, renowned among both the military and criminals for his ruthlessness toward his enemies and his ability to torture and humiliate people. Now, he's become the owner of the largest weapons manufacturing, creation, and supply company, though his reputation continues to follow him, making few people willing to work for his company, despite the enormous salaries Levi always paid his employees, whom he took good care of. Among his employees were her good friends from her previous job, namely Erwin Smith, who became his secretary, and Hange Zoe, who became the chief engineer and designer.
